There are two stained glass windows at St. Francis’ Church, Laurel Road, Dudley, commemorating the life of Duncan Edwards.

I receive quite a few emails from people asking if the church is still open for viewing the windows. In August 2008 I received an email from “Dave”. He said…

I visited St Francis` Church 2nd August as planned and the church appeared to be closed BUT adjoining the church is the Church Hall which opens as a great little cafe at 9.30 weekdays. You are able to access the church direct from the hall. Turn to your left to see the Duncan Edwards windows, they are not large and at the bottom of a larger window, but well worth a visit.

The cafe serves tea, coffee, freshly made sandwiches etc. at very reasonable prices and as a bonus the lady on duty when we visited remembers going to Duncan`s funeral and her husband was in the same class and same school football team as Duncan.

In January 2012 I received the following information from Anne Woodward:

I am from St. Francis Church where the stained glass window is. If anyone wants purchase 40th or 50th anniversary commemorative booklets they can contact me at anne.woodward@lockom.co.uk and to arrange a visit to the church they can either contact me or the vicar – Revd.
